New Year 2011

My wife and I spent New Years Eve in Jacksonville and stood on the Acosta Bridge overlooking the St Johns River and downtown waterfront.

The fireworks show was outstanding. Please check out the photos taken during the ten minute show.

Hello there. My name is Larry James and I am a photographer based in Tallahassee, Florida. The bulk of my photo sales are sports-related: mostly local lacrosse, rugby and soccer. I hope to expand my part-time photography business each year, adding additional sports and subjects.

The poster I'm featuring currently, was put together with photographs I took during the Total Lunar Eclipse on Dec 21, 2010. This rare event was visible throughout North America. Throughout the wee hours of the morning, the moon passed behind the earth eventually falling into full shadow. The atmospheric conditions caused it to appear red during the full eclipse of slightly more than one hour. I utilized a 600mm lens to take all of the photos. The total eclipse was at it's peak just after 3am.

The poster is 12x18 and shows the moon changing throughout the eclipse event. Each of the 6 moon images aligns with each hour from midnight through 6am on the clock dial. The poster can be purchased HERE for $16.95 with free shipping. Everything Photo & Frame will dry mount it locally for $12.50.

Kennel Kats

All of the photos I take at the kennel are also posted on my Zenfolio site: LINK.

The photos are all high-res and free to download. They make excellent prints or desktop wallpaper.

If you've adopted a cat from the shelter, it's likely that you'll find your cat's photo.

Adopt A Pet

As in most communities, we have a local animal shelter. They have a staff of full time employees and a large number of dedicated volunteers that care for the animals consisting mainly of cats and dogs. They do a wonderful job. Website: Tallahassee-Leon Community Animal Service Center [TLCASC].

I volunteer at the shelter, taking photographs of the cats and kittens that are available for adoption. The photographs are utilized on the shelter web site and are also posted on the front of the individual kennels. In addition to a desire to give back to the community, I am a cat lover. Working with the cats, is both enjoyable and rewarding. As is the case with the other volunteers, our main goal is to help these animals get adopted.

If you are a photographer in the Tallahassee area, I invite you to please consider giving some time to this effort. With the large number of animals at the shelter, there's plenty of work to go around. Just a couple of hours a week would be a big help.
